FAQ
You might have some questions, we have compiled a list of the ones we get asked the most,
if you still have further questions feel free to get in touch with us.

Where are your products made?

All of my cakes, brownies and treats are handmade in the Dessert Deli on-site kitchen. I am a one-women-show and a very busy baker, baking 6 days a week so you will always receive a freshly baked cake. All cake orders are baked and decorated fresh and to order at the bakery in Battersea Business Centre (Clapham Junction). I do not operate a production line or use industrial machinery; all my cakes are freshly baked each day in small batches and hand crafted one order at a time. It takes longer but they taste better.

What ingredients do you use?
I believe that better ingredients make better cakes: All of my delicious bakes are made using only high-quality ingredients such as British dairy, free-range eggs directly sourced from the farm - which are accredited by the Organic Growers Association, The Soil Association, RSPCA Freedom Foods and British Red Lion Quality to ensure the hens receive the highest potential standards of animal welfare and finest Belgian Callebaut chocolate. The fruit used is all fresh and all the sauces, compotes, fillings and caramels are homemade by me.

Can I request specific flavours when ordering a cake that are not part of your current range?
Generally I recommend to choose a cake from our diverse standard range as we have tested and perfected these recipes. I am always happy to try and accommodate special customer requests wherever possible, however, please understand that I will charge an off-range-fee (depending on the complexity of the cake) and that I may have to decline your request if a suitable recipe or ingredients are not available or due to a particularly high production volume.

Are your cakes & treats suitable for vegetarians OR vegans?
The majority of my cakes & bakes are suitable for vegetarians. We do have a vegan range that is very limited selection available, feel free to get in touch though as if I am unable to help you out on this occasion I am sure I can recommend you bakers who can do this for you instead!

Do you offer gluten-free cakes & treats?
Yes, I have a range of flourless / wheat-free 100% almond cakes that are baked without using gluten flour. However, please note that they are made in the same kitchen as our gluten based products and even though I have robust cross-contamination prevention procedures in place, the Dessert Deli free from products may contain traces of gluten.

Are your products suitable for people with a nut allergy?
I bake with all kinds of nuts including peanuts and tree nuts in the bakery and whilst I follow strict cross-contamination prevention procedures, I cannot guarantee that my products don't contain traces of nuts.
I bake with care and attention to detail but sometimes a piece of eggshell, fruit seeds or stones can make its way into the cakes.

How do I best store your cakes & how long do they keep for?
I recommend that you store your cake in the fridge 1-2 hours before serving. All inedible decorations ie. cake topper, fresh flowers and foliage must be removed before cutting your cake. All my products are made without artificial preservatives and as your order will have been made fresh, I recommend eating them on the day to enjoy them at their best. If you want to keep it for over 24hrs then please keep it in a cool dry place and devour it within 3 days of delivery or collection. If the cake is not being consumed within a few hours after collection/delivery, please pop it in the fridge and remove 3 to 4 hours before serving to allow the sponge to soften up. We do not recommend freezing our cakes.
Frosted cakes should be stored in a refrigerator but I recommend leaving the cake out at room temperature for about 30 minutes before serving as the flavour & texture is best when the product is not too cold.

How do I best store your brownies & how long do they keep?
As always I recommend eating freshly bakes goods as soon as, it just tastes better! Brownies can be stored at ambient temperate in an airtight container and can be stored from 5-10 days depending on the flavour.. Brownies can also be frozen for up to one month.
